# Customer Attributes

Customer attributes are data points that describe your customer - who is your customer, their location, occupation, and a lot more depending on your business. Such detailed customer data helps you segment your customers into relevant segments and use multiple channels of engagement to communicate with your customers.&#x20;

We have two categories of customer attributes:

1. [System Attributes](https://support.growlytics.in/customers-and-segments/customer-profile/customer-attributes/system-attributes): These are attributes pre-defined by Growlytics and are tracked for all users post-integration, by default.&#x20;
2. [Custom Attributes](https://support.growlytics.in/customers-and-segments/customer-profile/customer-attributes/custom-attributes): These attributes are defined by you for each platform and can be tracked through the respective SDKs.&#x20;
