Creating an SMS campaign is a 5 step process. Details for each step are mentioned below. Watch this video for a detailed tutorial.

Step 1: Set up an SMS Campaign

  1. Login to your Growlytics Dashboard.

  2. Go to Campaigns > SMS. You will see a list of all the SMS campaigns.

  3. Click on 'Create SMS Campaign' on the top right corner of the SMS list page. You will be asked to give the name of the campaign.

  4. Enter the campaign name and click on the 'Create Campaign' button.

  5. You will now enter the basic information for your campaign, as follows,

    1. Campaign Name: Provide the campaign name for your reference.

    2. Campaign Send Time: Specify when you want to send the campaign. Use 'Start Immediately' to send the email when the campaign is published. Or use 'Start Later' and provide the scheduled date and time to send the emails.

    3. Frequency Capping: This will ensure your customers are not spammed with too many communications on the same day.

    4. UTM Tracking: Checking this option will help tag all the URLs used in your campaign and understand the source of the traffic to that URL. It will also help you study campaign performance on platforms like Google Analytics.

Step 2: Specify Target Audience

In this step, you can specify the customers you want to send SMS notifications. There are 4 options to choose from:

  1. All Customers: Send SMS to all the customers synced on the Growlytics platform with their email IDs.

  2. To Segment: Send SMS to customers who belong to a particular segment that you have created earlier.

  3. To Custom Segment: Target a specific set of customers by instantly creating a segment with the help of custom segment filters like User Attribute, Performed Event, and Not Performed Event.

  4. To Static List: Send SMS to customers imported from a CSV list.

Step 3: Create SMS Content

This is where you will create the SMS content.

  1. Select your SMS provider from the drop-down menu.

  2. Enter the Template ID. If you are sending messages from an Indian SMS provider, you can specify the DLT template id if required by your configured SMS provider.

  3. Choose whether this SMS is transactional or not.

  4. Enter the DLT-approved SMS content. You can personalize your message by clicking on the User Icon, you will see four options - User Property, Events, Coupons, and Cart. For our example, Click on User property and select ‘Name’ to personalize the title.

  5. Redirect your customers to a web page of your choice by adding a short link. To do this,

    1. Click on 'Create Short Link'.

    2. Enter the required URL.

    3. Check the ‘Only generate short code, without domain name in URL’ option, to keep your domain name hidden.

    4. Click on 'Create Short Link'.

    5. Click on ‘Copy & Continue’ to proceed.

You can now paste this link in your message.

Step 4: Enable Tracking Conversion

In this step, you will select the conversion tracking criteria for the email campaign.

Depending on the goal of your campaign, select the 'Don’t track revenue option' or the 'Track revenue' option. This means the conversions from this campaign will be tracked for 5 days after the campaign is sent out.

Since we are sending out a 'Purchase Thank You' notification in our example we will select the ‘Don’t track revenue’ option.

Step 5: Review and Launch

This final step allows you to review the entire campaign once and make any edits before you Launch the campaign.

Once your campaign is up and running, you will be redirected to the Campaign Overview Page. We will learn more about this in the next section.
